Charles Edward Genoe, 79, of Battle Creek, MI passed away Thursday November 1, 2018. He was born August 27, 1939 to Davis Genoe and Irene (Chadwick) McPharlin in Morgantown, TN.
Charles attended Battle Creek Central leaving for work to help support his family. He received his GED after proudly serving in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He became a pipe fitter at General Motors where he retired after 35 years of service.
In his youth he was active in sports, where he played softball, golfed, bowled, and horseshoes. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions, University of Tennessee football, and all major MI sports teams. He loved traveling, horse racing and auto racing.
Charles loved spending time with his family and friends in MI, KY and TN. Even though he lived in MI since he was 12 he always considered TN his home.
He married Dorothy Ann (Cooper) June 17, 1961 - she survives. Also surviving are sons: Charles (Heather) Genoe Jr, of Augusta, GA; John Genoe of PA; Granddaughters Morgan Genoe of MI and Jordyn Genoe of GA. He also has a special relationship with Tony (Donna) Vaccaro of MI and David (Adrienne) Vaccaro of TN, whom he considered as sons. In addition, surviving are 11 brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be November 9, 2018 at Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation is 9:00-10:00 am, Funeral at 10:00 am with a Luncheon following on site. Interment will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery following the luncheon.
