Ronald Leroy Wormmeester, 68, of Springfield, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at home. He was born on September 19, 1949, the son of Jason Carl Wormmeester and Leona May (Buntz) Wormmeester.
Ron graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. After school he joined the U.S. Army and served faithfully for two terms in the Vietnam War. He worked at Johnson Controls, now Adient, for over 20 years as a fork lift driver. Ron was a hard worker so he loved to relax and watch TV on his down time. He also enjoyed having a few beers, playing with the dog and spending time with his family.
Ron is survived by his Wife of 19 years - Gertrude Ann (Phillips) Wormmeester of Springfield, Michigan; step son, Richard (Carrie) Smith of TN; step-daughter, Rosemary Higgason of MI; three Sisters, Rhoda Hooper of MI, Virginia Millard of FL, Kathy Wormmeester of FL; Brother, Dale Wormmeester of TX; step-brother, Billy Smith; step-mother, Clara Wormmeester, and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins, friends and other loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son, Scott Smith.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Thursday May 31, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 1:00 pm.
Interment will take place in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
