Obituary for John Henderson

John Henderson, 92, of Springfield, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 18, 1925, the son of Ernest Henderson and Ethel (Collins) Henderson.
John honorably served his country in the United States Navy, serving in World War II and Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the service, he went on to work and later retire from Kellogg Cereal Company after 41 years of dedicated work. He was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club, as well as the American Legion Post 298 and a lifelong member of the DAV.
John loved to travel, loved being outdoors, always did things around the house, puttering around in his garage and sitting on his deck. He wasn't one to sit and watch television. He loved going out to eat with his good friends. His truck and his 1990 Olds, always had a sweet spot in his heart, he always made sure to try and keep them in perfect shape. He was very much in love with his wife, Linda and loved his children very much as well. Always a provider for his family, John always made sure everyone was taken care of. He always had a great sense of humor.
His biggest heartache was the loss of his son, Ron, to a car accident in 1999, a tragedy the family has never gotten over.
The joys of his life were his wife, Linda, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His dog, Hanna and Grand-dog, Lucy were added joys to his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ethel (Collins) Henderson, Sisters, Opal Herr and Rosilee Chadwick and Son, Ron Henderson.
John is survived by his Wife of 62 years, Linda Lou (Pinkerton) Henderson; Son, Duane (Kay Morris) Henderson of Battle Creek; Daughter, Kathy (Mal) Sidebottom of Battle Creek, 5 Grandchildren, Heather (Jason) Miller of Texas, Michael (Ashley) Sidebottom of Battle Creek, Mindy (Justen) Rapone of Rhode Island, Jarrod (Melissa) Blair of Coldwater, Eric Blair of Coldwater and 9 Great-Grandchildren.
